Math Tutoring

Our math courses are flexible and we teach based on your child's skill level, so that all children are engaged in learning. Our tutors are all in advanced math courses, maintaining A grades. They have experience teaching their peers the subject, so you can be assured that your child will be taught in a way that they can understand and become successful!

Math Olympiad

Cogniz provides personalized instruction and guidance to students preparing for Math Olympiad competitions. We typically have a deep understanding of advanced mathematical concepts and problem-solving strategies required for Math Olympiad success. We help students develop their problem-solving skills, strengthen their mathematical knowledge, and build confidence in tackling challenging math problems. Math Olympiad tutoring sessions may cover various mathematical topics, practice exercises, and strategies for approaching Olympiad-style problems. Tutor often tailor their lessons to meet the individual needs and goals of each student, helping them reach their full potential in Math Olympiad competitions. Currently 2024- 2025 Cogniz is running a Olympiad team of 20 students. 

Algebra

It is a fundamental part of mathematics and is used in many fields, including science, engineering, economics. Team Cogniz can guide and help students on algebra concepts, solving problems  to gain core knowledge.

Math Kangaroo

Math Kangaroo is an international math competition that aims to promote mathematical thinking and problem-solving skills among students. It is open to grades 1 to 12 and is held annually on the third Thursday of March. The competition consists of multiple-choice questions that test students' of math concepts and their ability to apply them in real-life situations. Preparing and Participating in Math Kangaroo can be a fun and rewarding experience for students who enjoy math and want to challenge themselves and I can help on that side too.

Math Trivia

Math trivia refers to fun, fascinating, or unusual facts and tidbits about mathematics. These can include interesting properties of numbers, surprising mathematical patterns, historical anecdotes about mathematicians, or puzzles and tricks that spark curiosity. We conduct Math trivia to make learning math more engaging and enjoyable for students or as a way to challenge and entertain those who love math.

Offers online classes from pre-algebra to calculus and group theory, as well as courses for Math and Physics Olympiad preparation. Enrollment is paid.

MIT Open Courseware

High-quality PDF calculus notes from MIT covering key units and topics, offering an excellent learning resource.

EdX

A site offering free online STEM courses from top universities like Harvard, MIT, and Berkeley—perfect for exploring schools or learning productively in your free time.

Coursera

A free online resource for STEM courses from top universities like Stanford, MIT, and Harvard. I recommend Introduction to Mathematical Thinking by Stanford on Coursera—it covers number theory, real analysis, and mathematical reasoning, and is a great starting point for building stronger math skills.

Wolfram MathWorld

A large database offering clear definitions of numerous mathematical terms for quick reference.

Khan Academy

Website with videos on pretty much all topics of grade school math from basic counting to Linear Algebra. Most of these topics come with review exercises. Highly recommended for math students of all levels.

Competitions

Math Olympiads for Elementary and Middle Schools

Math contests for aspiring students from grades 4-8 that involves working in teams to solve challenging problems.

USAMTS

A proof-based math competition for high schoolers, similar to AMC 10/12. Strong performers may qualify for AIME or USA(J)MO. The exam has multiple rounds with a month to complete solutions.

International Math Olympiad

The premier math competition for high school students across the world. Qualification for this competition is competitive and rigorous and involves taking the AMC 10/12, then the AIME, then the USAMO for those in the US.

International Mathematics Competition (IMC)

The Chiu Chang Mathematics Education Foundation launched the IMC in the early 2000s, and it has since expanded across multiple continents. Although focused on Southeast Asia, it is open to all countries. Each invited country or city sends two teams of six students, while host countries may send four teams.
